Dedicated to Teresa

Teresa, left, and her daughter, Cassie, at a Cowgirls' basketball game.

This page is dedicated to my late wife, Teresa, who passed away on Jan. 12, 2012, after a battle with several illnesses.

My biggest supporter throughout the years was my wife.
My first contact with Teresa was in 1986 when I covered the Wyoming women’s basketball team for the Laramie Boomerang. Teresa was a 6-foot, 3-inch center for the Cowgirls (Teresa Poindexter).

Eighteen years later we met again on a personal basis and on May 1, 2006, we married in Las Vegas (after we both played in the International Team Dart Championships).

Teresa was first diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1993 and endured several injuries and illnesses throughout the years, including a serious car accident in 2009 that crushed her back. I’ve always said that Teresa suffered more physical pain in one day than most people would in a lifetime. A series of illnesses put Teresa in the hospital in Oct. 2010 and she remained there until Dec. 2011. She was able to come home for 10 great days before being rushed to the emergency room again on Christmas Eve.

It appeared as if she was going to recover and come home again, but just as that was about to happen, she suffered two cardiac arrests and a severe infection attacked her body and shut down her organs. She passed away on Jan. 12 at the Medical Center of the Rockies at the age of 45.

Teresa was my biggest supporter and her wish in the last few years was that I did what I loved best — being a sportswriter.
Every story that I write is dedicated to Teresa, my biggest supporter, my best friend and the love of my life.

Miss you TooTallTeresa

Here are some articles I have written about Teresa in the past couple of years on this blog.
